Umbria – Paciano (PG): a charming center surrounded by prestigious olive groves and rich forest vegetation, the village of Paciano is located at an altitude of 392 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Petrarvella. The origin of the name is quite controversial: according to historian Ciatti, it may stem from Janus and Epeo, "Peace of Janus"; others believe it comes from the ancient Pacianati of Festo or from Pacino, a nephew of King Volpinio known as Lucullus; still others think that Paciano gets its name from the Roman family Pacia, frequently cited in ancient inscriptions, especially in Tuscany. Today, it still retains its intact medieval village that overlooks a superb panorama: 6 kilometers to the North is Lake Trasimeno; slightly further away are the lakes of Chiusi and Montepulciano and the Val di Chiana Senese.
