‘VILLA Smeraldo’ is a perfect mix of history, tradition and modernity of the highest taste and standard. ’Villa Smeraldo’ was built about 6 years ago with the architect and builder working to the highest quality standards. The builder had already decided to retire after 50 years of continuous work but due to the client’s request, as well as the beauty and prestigious nature of the project, he decided to do one last build. Local materials such as stone, tile and wood were used to their greatest effect in a modern style within the Tuscan/Umbrian tradition. The villa is currently used for holiday rentals as well as being featured in the most prestigious architectural magazines. The prestigious villa has a total gross area of about 500 sqm. The semi basement floor has two double bedrooms with vaulted ceilings with original large ‘patch work’ decorated bricks. There is an antique handmade terracotta tiled floor as well as two bathrooms. The one for the bedroom has a bath and shower and is completely decorated with a ‘Home Sweet Home' mosaic. The other bathroom has a shower and unique tiles that cover the height of 1.50 metres. There is another bedroom/study, as well as a laundry area and a large stone staircase that goes to the top floor. Continuing with the semi basement, but outside the villa’s perimeter, is a bathroom with shower that serves the swimming pool and Jacuzzi area as well as a utility/technical room, storage area and wine cellar. The internal staircase takes you to the top floor where there is a spacious living room divided by an arch and fireplace, a dining area with access to a covered loggia enclosed on three sides. Here there is a pitched roof and a French window that opens onto the villa’s highest balcony which gives a truly breathtaking view!! The bathroom is truly beautiful with its simple lines and rich refined materials. There is even pure gold mosaic design in the shower area that emits an almost radiant shine. ‘Villa Smeraldo' uses a geothermal pump for heating and air conditioning in the summer. There is a good energy consumption to cost ratio with 'underfloor' heating and a moisture extraction system. Particular attention has been paid to the villa’s exterior where the swimming pool is the main focal point. This has been designed with integrated metal mosaic and throughout the day creates a unique array of intense reflections of blue, gold, sky blue and grey depending on the light and night conditions. The swimming pool is 14ml x 5ml in size and comes complete with electric shutters. There is also a convenient and very private solarium area. The design for the swimming pool has also been used for the Jacuzzi which also has electric shutters. It has been designed primarily to have a comfortable seating area with benches for relaxing. Being heated, of course, means that it can be used all year round, even when it’s snowing! There is a completely fenced in garden area of about 2,450 square metres around the villa as well as an electric gate. The remaining land is natural forest. The land totals over 5000 square metres. Villa Smeraldo has an alarm 'care-taker' system. The Villa is also used, on occasion, for rentals which can generate a useful income.
